What is Triple-Lok?

Triple-Lok is Parker's 37° flare (cone) JIC fittings consisting of three parts: fitting body, sleeve and nut. They are used for tube and hose connections in hydraulic systems and have been an industry standard since the 1930s.

  • Materials: Steel, stainless steel, brass, aluminium
  • Sizes: 1/8” to 2”
  • Standards: SAE J514, ISO 8434-2 (37° flare)
  • Port types: NPT, BSPP, BSPT, metric
  • Compatible media: Hydraulic oils, certain fuels and fluids (always check media compatibility and material selection)

Benefits of Triple-Lok in hydraulics

  • Reliable, leak-free connection when correctly assembled
  • Compact design – ideal in tight installations
  • High strength and resistance to vibration
  • Wide global availability and standardisation

Applications

  • Mobile hydraulics (construction machinery, agriculture, lifting equipment)
  • Industrial machinery and presses
  • Offshore and marine (stainless steel recommended due to corrosion)
  • Test equipment and pressure applications

Choosing the right Triple-Lok fitting

  1. Pressure rating and size
  • Choose the size according to tube/hose dimension and the required flow/pressure
  • Use the manufacturer's pressure tables and always allow safety margins
  1. Material and environment
  • Steel: standard, cost-effective
  • Stainless steel: corrosive environments/offshore
  • Brass: lower pressure, good corrosion resistance in certain media
  • Aluminium: low weight – assess pressure requirements carefully
  1. Port and thread type
  • Match the machine's port: NPT, BSPP, BSPT, metric
  • Avoid mixing incompatible thread standards
  1. Tube type and flaring
  • Inch or metric tube is possible – choose the correct sleeve for the tube type
  • The tube is flared to 37° with the correct flaring machine for tightness and strength

Why buy from Hymatik?

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

What is the difference between JIC (37°) and ORFS? JIC uses a 37° metal-to-metal sealing surface. ORFS uses an O-ring face seal for extra protection against vibration and leaks in certain applications. The choice depends on pressure, vibration and service requirements.

Can I use metric tube with Triple-Lok? Yes. Switch to the correct sleeve for metric tube and flare the tube to 37°.

Which materials is Triple-Lok available in? Steel, stainless steel, brass and aluminium – choose according to pressure, corrosion and weight.

Which standards does Triple-Lok meet? SAE J514 and ISO 8434-2 for 37° flare.

Can Hymatik help with flaring and assembly equipment? Yes, we sell/rent out machines and advise on the correct set-up. Call 63 12 83 00 or write to PS@hymatik.com.
