CSR policy

At Hymatik, we are very conscious of running a responsible business from an economic, environmental and social perspective alike.

We work on the basis of the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact:

  1. Businesses should support and respect the protection of internationally proclaimed human rights.
  2. Businesses should make sure that they are not complicit in human rights abuses.
  3. Businesses should uphold the freedom of association and the effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining.
  4. Businesses should support the elimination of all forms of forced labour.
  5. Businesses should support the effective abolition of child labour.
  6. Businesses should eliminate discrimination in respect of employment and occupation.
  7. Businesses should support a precautionary approach to environmental challenges.
  8. Businesses should undertake initiatives to promote greater environmental responsibility.
  9. Businesses should encourage the development and diffusion of environmentally friendly technologies.
  10. Businesses should work against corruption in all its forms, including extortion and bribery.

Responsible business

Our overall responsibility is to maintain and develop a sound and healthy business with a focus on development and digitalisation. This must be done in a sensible and responsible manner towards both the environment and society.

Our focus is on selling high-quality products that create great value for our customers.

We in no way tolerate any form of corruption or bribery in our business, and the same applies to our suppliers, who must actively avoid becoming complicit in corruption.

Employees and partners

We ensure equal and strong relationships between all employees and partners, built on mutual respect and dignity. We give everyone the opportunity to enter into a relationship with us without any form of discrimination, including for example: race, gender, age, religion, nationality or other particular characteristics.

We focus on creating a safe and healthy working environment for our employees. For us, it is important that there is a healthy balance between work and leisure, so that all employees come to work happy and motivated.

We have documented written safety instructions for our hose production. These instructions are presented to all new employees in production, so that they know the procedure for producing a hose in a safe and correct manner. This safeguards the employee's own safety and the safety of the product for the customer.

Environment and sustainability

We work on the basis of one of the UN's 17 Sustainable Development Goals – Goal 12 for a more sustainable world.

FN verdensmål 12

Goal 12: Responsible consumption and production

Target 12.5

"By 2030, substantially reduce waste generation through prevention, reduction, recycling and reuse"

We are constantly working to make our consumption even more sustainable.

We use recycled boxes from our supplier when we send goods to our customers. If the recycled boxes are not available in the sizes we need, we buy cardboard boxes carrying the FSC label (Forest Stewardship Council). FSC certification is a labelling scheme that guarantees that the wood, cardboard and paper used comes from responsible forestry where consideration has been given to the environment and the local community.

In addition to reusing cardboard boxes, we also reuse cardboard and paper to pack goods when we send them to the customer.

We use PP tape to seal the cardboard boxes we send out to our customers. PP tape is a strong and sustainable tape made from 100% recycled plastic.

We make a great effort to sort our waste so that the materials can be recycled. The manufacture of plastic, cardboard and paper, for example, involves a large consumption of energy and raw materials, which is significantly reduced by recycling the materials rather than producing new ones.

We give our customers the opportunity to dispose of their old hydraulic hoses. Customers can leave their used hoses with us, and we make sure they are recycled properly.

In addition, we are constantly working on becoming more and more digital, so that we can do away with printed paper in ring binders.

The products we sell are of very high quality, which gives them a long service life. This helps protect the environment, as it reduces CO2 emissions.

Target 12.6

"Encourage companies, especially large and transnational companies, to adopt sustainable practices and to integrate sustainability information into their reporting cycle."

We make a point of asking our customers and suppliers whether they work with the UN's 17 Sustainable Development Goals, in order to start a dialogue so that we can all become wiser and more aware.

As we are not a manufacturing company ourselves, and therefore cannot make environmental improvements in the production of the products we sell, we instead set requirements for our suppliers.

Parker Hannifin, our largest supplier, prepares a CSR report every year describing their CSR initiatives. Here are examples of what they are working on:

  • A focus on creating safe workplaces where no occupational accidents may occur.
  • Today, Parker recycles more than 85% of the waste generated by their production. They are also working to reduce the volume of waste sent to landfill.
  • In general, Parker is constantly working to use environmentally friendly materials, implement recycling initiatives, optimise production processes and reduce the consumption of energy, water and raw materials.
  • Parker is working to improve the service life of their products, which both creates value for the customer and minimises environmental impact.
  • Product life cycles are analysed in order to improve the products with a focus on sustainable materials, designing products for optimal operation, and using materials that can be reused/recycled when they are disposed of. All of this is intended to make it more efficient for end customers to use Parker products, as waste and energy consumption are reduced.
  • Across all production activities, Parker strives to avoid using materials that are harmful to the environment.
  • Parker works with suppliers that are reliable and deliver materials of exceptional quality.
  • Recent initiatives at Parker include minimising air freight, as it involves high costs and a large environmental footprint, and can therefore be avoided to advantage by using more sustainable modes of transport.
  • Parker is working towards using only electronic purchase orders, invoices and other supplier documents in order to reduce paper consumption.
  • Wooden pallets are used in Parker's distribution centres for storing and transporting materials, and in this connection they have implemented a programme to repair and reuse damaged pallets so that they do not end up in landfill.
