Why corrosion protection matters

The solution: ToughShield Plus zinc-nickel coating
ToughShield Plus is Parker Hannifin's new, patent-pending standard zinc-nickel surface treatment for steel fittings and adapters. The coating is developed to raise corrosion resistance significantly – without changing assembly, pressure ratings or compatibility.

Rollout and availability
Parker began the rollout in autumn 2021 and continued throughout 2022. The transition is happening gradually – as stock of previous coatings is replaced by ToughShield Plus.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
What is the difference between ToughShield and ToughShield Plus? ToughShield Plus is Parker's new, improved standard zinc-nickel coating with significantly higher resistance to red rust (up to 3000 hours in ASTM B117/ISO 9227).
Does the coating affect pressure ratings or assembly? No. Pressure ratings and assembly procedures are unchanged compared with previous Parker steel fittings.
Are part numbers and compatibility the same? Yes. Part numbers are unchanged, and fittings/adapters with ToughShield Plus are compatible with existing zinc-plated Parker steel fittings.
Will I be able to see a difference? Only a slight colour change – from silver to a greyer shade.
